CODINC at Robotex Cyprus

During the weekend 29-30 June 2019, the Cyprus Computer Society organized the Robotex Cyprus Competition (www.robotex.org.cy). More than 1000 persons participated at the various challenges and with the additional visitors it gathered around 3000-4000 during the 2-day event. The CODINC project was also featured during the event and informational material was available to visitors.

 

CODINC Training during the 1st MIC STEM Entrepreneurship Summer School in Cyprus

On 5th July 2019 two of our sexondary school trainers Leonidas Leonida and Katerina Sheyttani trained 30 students aged from 10-15 years. The 2-hour training included the Makey Makey, Scratch and Unplugged activities of the CODINC Toolkit.

The training was part of the 1st Microsoft Innovation Center Cyprus STEM Entrepreneurship Summer School which took place in Nicosia, Cyprus!

 

Workshop for Primary School Students in Cyprus

Following the success of the secondary school students training in Cyprus which took during February and March 2019, the primary school pupils were introduced to coding.
During the Easter holiday from 2 to 5 May 2019, 62 pupils participated at the 15-hour workshops and received training from the secondary school e-facilitators under the supervision of the project trainers.

 

Final meeting for the Cyprus Secondary School students

The students of the Ethnomartyras Kyprianos secondary school in Nicosia, Cyprus have successfully completed the first part of their training. They have received 15 hours of training from their trainers Mr. Alexandros Kofteros and Ms. Matina Marathefti. In April the students will meet with the primary school pupils to show them how to code in a fun way!

Introduction to Sratch

Another successful meeting under the Erasmus + Codinc for Inclusion project for the Cyprus workshop for secondary schhol students. During Sunday's meeting, participating the studentsparticipated in visual programming using #Scratch, designed, built and programmed robots with the use of #LEGOWeDo, but also set classroom rules of conduct and discussed on non-formal teaching techniques while using #Kahoot.

Cyprus Piloting at the Secondary School

The piloting in Cyprus started on Sunday 10 February 2019 at the Ethnomartyras Kyprianos Lyceum. The first stage of the pilots will train young students in coding, programming and stem education practices in a fun, playful, and inclusive way. The young students will then go on to teach their even younger peers how to code! The methodology is based on ?‍?STEM ?‍?education, computational thinking and problem solving. The first stage of the pilot includes 15 hours of student education in both programming and knowledge transfer to primary school students.
 

#CODINCEU Project presented at the Cyprus Reseacher Night

On September 27 and 28, 2018 the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF)  organised the “Researcher’s Night”, an event organized in collaboration with academic and research institutions as well as other organisations in Cyprus. The event is an initiative of the European Commission and takes place simultaneously in almost all European countries. Those joining us at the Lanitis Carob Mill Complex in Limassol had the opportunity to enjoy a creative night-time event dedicated to science and research, through experiments, games, competitions and music.
